This is what they call a "pivot" in business school

On Friday, January 2, 2026 our storefront burnt to the ground along with six other business and eight apartments.

This has been a surreal week.  From the shock of watching our livelihood go up in flames (very dramatically I might add), to the flurry of activity that keeps the grief at bay, to our profound gratitude for you, our community.

We will re-open.  This is a certainty.  We are working on the where, and the when is too hard to guess.  Wherever we land, all of your donations will go directly to making that space a welcoming shop and gaming venue.  It won’t be the same. The H st storefront had so much light and warmth and character, as only old, well loved buildings do. But, it will be awesome, because we’re awesome and you’re awesome.

In the meantime, (because the mean amount of time it takes to relocate is… *calculating noises*... a while), we will find ways to stay connected.  Other businesses in Arcata have offered to host game nights, and we are following up on those offers. Outer Space Arcata will hold Star Wars Unlimited casual play on Tuesday nights, and we’re working on a Magic the Gathering weekly casual play at Septentrio (detail to be announced).  You can buy books and audiobooks through our digital storefronts at Bookshop.org and Libro.fm. I’ll be writing about our experiences as we rebuild.

We may have rolled a Red Dragon on the random encounter table, but this party isn’t finished.  We've leveled up enough to survive and the community succeeded with a saving role! We will continue the campaign with you, our community, at the heart of our story.
